Journal Filming the Club scene | 24.01.14

Today we filmed the club scene, the final chunk of our music video. As planned we used the drama room due to the black walls and the ability to manipulate it into looking like a club. For the DJ area we used the mini stage for Scott Garcia to stand on and for the DJ table we stacked two half cylinder blocks on top of each other. We then put disco lights on it and got a keyboard from music to replicate the DJ decks. Jack the media technician helped us set up the lighting to look authentic.
As you can see from the pictures we had quite a small amount of people but pushed them all closely together and framed the shot tightly to make it look busy and crowded. We used glow sticks and plastic wine glasses to make the scene look more realistic.

Journal Shooting | 15.01.14

Today the group went out to film some more footage for our video. We filmed on the streets in the area, sticking up the 'No Rabbits Allowed' signs in different locations to show that rabbits are widely unaccepted in society. We plan to have these shots altogether with quick cuts to show the mass of them.

We also filmed the bit where the rabbit finds the "Eskobar" poster on the floor which leads to the club scene. We will edit these clips today and tomorrow in time for the first screening of our music videos

Journal working on Digipak poster

Today I have been working on my digipak poster. This is what i have come up with so far, I decided to use an image that doesn't feature on my digipak front cover as it makes it look different and not too repetitive. Saying this, this image does feature inside the digipak keeping some continuity. I added a smaller image of the front cover in the bottom right corner as this was a feature I noticed occur on existing digipak poster.

Journal: 20.11.13

Today we showed our finished animatics to the class so we could get feedback. The feedback that we got was mainly positive saying that the pace was good, that we'd complied with Goodwin well and that the actual music video narrative looked interesting and they would watch it multiple times.

The only other feedback we got was that we needed to work on the length of some of the shots, and some people thought there were elements of Goodwin missing however we explained what we were doing for each one. To make sure our video is the best it could be we will make sure our shots aren't too long and the pace is consistent and fluent.

Journal 15.11.13

Today I have been working on my second draft of my digipak. I have been editing it according to the feedback I received on Monday. So far I have changed a few of my images in the collage as they were the same as the ones inside of the digipak, which on reflection doesn't look very professional. I am also in the process of changing my 'acknowledgements' panel as I think it is too text heavy and something else may be more suited there. I might have to take a few more images for my digipak as for these panels I may just have some images from around London that connote the 'urban/dance' direction that my digipak seems to have taken.

Journal 11.11.13

Today we presented our first drafts of our digipaks to the class. We talked about each panel and explained why we put what we did on each panel. I got mainly positive feedback from mine saying that the genre came across well, it was aesthetically pleasing etc. However, I did get some constructive criticism saying that there was perhaps too much writing on my digipak and I will take this into consideration on my second draft and perhaps revise some panels with a lot of text on them.

Journal 30.10.13

On the 30th of October me, Dylan and Kate travelled to London to do a test shoot. We wanted to see whether our ideas were actually do-able and not too ambitious. We took the opportunity of it being half term and good weather to get out there and do some practise shots. The shots that we got actually came out so much better than expected, which gave us the confidence that our idea would be able to work out. Some of the shots may even be able to used in our real music video as they were actually really successful.

The next step will be to complete our storyboards knowing that we won't have to change our idea at all. After doing this we will do our animatic and then be able to do some filming for real.
